Microsquish to buy Yahoo

Published by Steve Krause at 11:05 am under Technology

I just heard it on NPR; here’s a link to a blurb in the NYT. Basically, Microsoft wants to buy Yahoo and is making an offer that they are basically not going to be able to refuse. The idea is to compete against Google.

I don’t know much about this sort of thing, but would this even be legal in terms of anti-trust laws?

This would be bad in a lot of ways. A commentator last night pointed out that Yahoo was innovating a lot lately, and Microsoft will probably squash that.

Personally, I don’t think it will affect Google much.

First thing, of course, is that Microsoft will rename it “Yahune.”
