There was loads of literature front and center: children’s lit, adolescent lit, scifi, graphic novels, fantasy, manga all took center stage, unless, of course, we don’t count any of these as, you know, being “real” literature, not that I have a chip on my shoulder about that or anything.

None of the stuff I teach in my courses was marginalized in the store, which feels very weird since I spend a lot of time teaching/talking/writing about how the lit I teach is marginalized in the academy . . . probably because it is, in some ways, more commercial that the canon.

It really was a mecca for the likes of me, though the graphic novel section was a bit thin, so I’ll happily stick to the locally-owned Vault of Midnight, which has an awesome collection.

How were the Christian Lit and Self Help sections? They seem to be growing and growing and growing… while as you said, the Lit gets pushed off to the corner.
